COMPOSERS-FORUM Mittersill

The aim of the organization Mittersill Composers’ Forum (Wolfgang Seierl and Hannes Raffaseder) is, starting from the conception and organization of the Mittersill Composers’ Forum, the building of a network for exchange, information and communication on the field of the current musical live, including events in Salzburg and Vienna, the CD-label ein_klang records, newsletters and two homepages (www.kofomi.com and www.einklangrecords.com).

The Mittersill Composers’ Forum was founded in 1996 by Wolfgang Seierl and Christian Heindl. The conception was a dynamic memorial for Anton Webern, the famous Austrian composer who was killed in 1945 in Mittersill under tragic circumstances. Since then the forum was held every september, grew to a small festival and could be established as a platform for contemporary music.

The processes and results of these 10-days meetings (five to six composers in residence, one artist in residence and one ensemble in residence) in the middle of the Austrian alps are reflected in contact to the public and are published in concerts, publications, broadcastings and on CDs.

The label ein_klang records was founded in 1998 for those documentary reasons. Sinece 2005 the label publishes music out of that context as well (remix/remote). ein_klang records is presented on the download-platform of Austrian Music Export manymusics.org.

The Mittersill Composers’ Forum includes a symposium in which the topics of the forum are considered in the frame of a dialogue between science and art.

In the frame of workshops and grants for students the forum tries to speak and open to children and joung persons as well.

The series of discussions „Wohin?“ in Salzburg, Galerie 5020 is a further modul of communication that wants to stimulate the perceptin and discussion of the current problems and changes in our musical live.

Wolfgang Seierl, founder and director of the Mittersill Composers’ Forum, 1955 born in Vienna, is visual artist, musician and composer. He lives in Vienna and Salzburg.

Hannes Raffaseder, since 1999 director of the Mittersill Composers’ Forum, 1970 born in Freistadt, is musician and composer, teaches soud-design at the Fachhochschule St. Pölten. He lives in Wien.

Christian Hochmeister, graphic-design, looks for the printed matters, posters and CD-designs of the Mittersill Composers’ Forum since 2001.

Kurt Hörbst, 1972 born in Apfoltern, photography, video and media-projects, teaches telecommunication and media at the Fachhochschule St. Pölten, assistance in media -works for the Mittersill Composers’ Forum since 2004 and looks for the webpages since 2006.
